Leading Western Australian designer, Dane Richardson, chooses intelligent lighting as the most preferred home automation feature of his family home. His three-year-old house is now on the market and is turning heads with its bold cedar planking box design.

A media room in the children's wing complete with Clipsal amplifier and reticulated TV, gives access to a bathroom, a powder room and two bedrooms.
The main suite, which features a wall of glass open to the ocean views, is similarly equipped. Clipsal amplifiers are used to distribute music to these and other selected areas of the home, including the living area, powder room, terrace and office.
Using the Clipsal touch screen or remote, you can access different music, sourced from the radio, CDs or the iPod, hard wired into the amplifier.
"When we entertain our guests love it that they can go into the powder room and hear different music playing to the dining area," says Mr Richardson.
Clipsal Starserve is used to stream DVD and Foxtel to the only rooms of the house to have a TV - the kids playroom and master bedroom.
"We're not big TV viewers", explains Mr Richardson "so it is great we don't have to invest in two DVD players, we can just load a DVD in the activity room, which is the central distribution point, and watch it in either location."
