Security systems provide another dimension of convenience and comfort to your home when planned properly.

A basic burglar alarm has the advantage of being cheap, but it's effectiveness in relation to new security systems is limited. Security systems can now control all sorts of other things as well-like temperature and lighting-based on predefined security conditions. For example, when a security system is armed, it could also shut off certain lights and lower the thermostats.

Of course the more components that are controlled by a security system, the more carefully you'll need to design those features into your home.
