Typically the industry thought Smart Wired is meant for networking computers and reticulating DVD, Foxtel to all TV's in the home but looking at it more closely its much more than that, also if your home is Smart Wired the cost of fitting of these products will be a lot cheaper, more reliable and more secure.
Wiring involves low voltage cables that carry phone, fax, data, audio, and video signals around your home.
Traditional TV and phone cables and installation methods cannot support today's technology and are becoming obsolete. The new standards use CAT5/6E, RG6, cables wired in a star configuration from a service enclosure(home distributor). The future of Smart Wiring is very clear, today most people are aware of FOXTEL and free to air digital TV but what a lot of people are unaware is what the internet provides to the home, currently many major world wide companies' are set up or setting up to provide all services via the internet, some of these company's include Telstra, Microsoft, Apple iTunes, Amazon, FOXTEL just to name a few. Currently you can hop on your computer and down load movies in high definition, Music (no longer do you have to go searching for that classic you have been looking for, it's on the internet!) Wireless technology in the home does serve a purpose, but the market is confused where the application should be used, we are all aware of the problems associated with wireless technology, security, reliability and bandwidth. But what do these things mean to the home owner. We all no that wireless systems if not set up properly can be easily hacked but some industry experts believe any wireless systems can be hacked leaving the home insecure, in regard to bandwidth,(the amount of information that can be reticulated around the home) the home in the near future will require more information and bandwidth than the office, many believe that wireless technology will never cope with the bandwidth required in the home. Reliability is another concern, there are many other products that can interfere with your wireless system, e.g. Telephone systems, construction issues and so on.
If you speak to an industry expert they will tell you that wireless does have a place in the home but it should be run in hybrid with your Smart Wired system giving you the best of both worlds.
Cameras can be installed at the front door or near the pool and their images will appear at every TV on designated channels. Other areas, like the driveway, can be monitored, especially if you have a vehicle left out at night or lane-ways around the home.
Telephone intercom systems can also be added to your Smart Wired system, these systems allow front door communications and internal intercom all through your telephone systems getting rid of extra costly systems in your home.
Multi room audio is the biggest moving area in the Smart Wired home; most people are opting for music in places like Alfresco, bedrooms and living areas. Now we fully understand the future of the Smart Wired home and the impact the internet will have with our entertainment, learning and communication, now we need to understand the long term savings by having Smart Wired system
Although the initial cost of a Smart Wired package cost more than conventional cabling the long term expense will far out way the cost of the original Smart Wired pack, Retro fitting is an option but not a good option, often because of the labour expense a retro fit can cost twice the price of a system fitted during construction
If you have conventional cabling and you wanted to take advantage of all the new technology available; you would need to have a PC with the correct Digital connections at every location you wanted these services, making it a very expensive end solution., with a Smart Wired pack you can have one central computer in your study (most computers are ok even if they don't have the Digital outputs), and simply add Media readers to every location you want internet TV Movies, music and so on. These devices take the information stored on your central PC and play it on your TV's, stereo systems, multi room audio over the Smart Wired system reliably! The cost of these devices start at about $150 and when you compare the starting price of a media center starting at about $2000 (needed at every TV location) the Smart Wired pack would have paid for itself.
Other services included things like VOIP, (Voice over IP) currently and in the future there are company's giving you the ability to make phone calls over your internet account, by using services you can make local and international calls for near no extra cost and this is a simple device that cam be added to your Smart Wired package
Did you know that conventional TV cabling (RG59) in not recommended for Digital TV, many people have moved over to Flat panel Digital TV systems these units can cost anywhere between $2000 to $20000 dollars and you will not be getting the best picture unless you are using the correct cables and connectors. Your Smart Wired pack comes with the correct cables and connectors for Digital and High Definition TV again avoiding expensive retro fits at a later date.
